    WHAT'S NEW
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

What is new to this version of the editor?

    * Editor works with foreign/patched/updated game.

    * Added change player position facility.

    GETTING STARTED
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    * Unzip the contents of SVGED.ZIP into the directory which contains
      the saved game files.

    * Load the editor, specifying which saved game, and which league type
      is to be edited,
      e.g. SVGED.EXE 1 F to edit saved game 1, of a Foreign League,
i.e. Belgian, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish games.
           SVGED.EXE 2 P to edit saved game 2, of Eng/Sco League (v1.56),
i.e. the patched game with the Bosman ruling.
           SVGED.EXE 3 U to edit saved game 2, of Eng/Sco League (v2.00),
           i.e. Championship Manager 2 96/97 Season.
SVGED.EXE 8 to edit saved game 8, default is Eng/Sco League
           (v2.00).

    * Once the editor has loaded and generated the index files, the main
menu will be displayed. Now choose 'P' to edit the player data, 'T'
to edit the team data or 'Q' to leave the editor.

    USING THE EDITOR
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

I've tried to keep this editor as similar as possible to the data editor
    written by Boah.

    * Press 'F1' to get help on the keys used by the editor.

    * To change an attribute, press the respective key to start editing.

    * Press 'F2' to save any changes made.

    * Press 'F3' to change a player's position (on player editor screen).

    * Press 'F5' to go to a particular record number.

    * Press 'F7' to use the in-built search feature of the editor. The search
feature is case sensitive, and searches character fields only. Use 'F8'
to perform a further search for the same string.

    CHANGING A PLAYER'S CLUB
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

If you wish to change the club of a player you nedd to perform the
    following steps:

    * Press 'T' on the main menu to go to the the team editor screen.

    * Perform a search for the team to which you wish to add a player.

    * Make a note of this team's number (top righthand corner of screen).

    * Exit to the main menu (F10) and go to the player editor screen ('P').

    * Find the player who you wish to add to the team.

    * Once you have found the player, press '1' to change the player's club.
The code for the player's current club will be displayed and you will
be prompted for a new code. Enter the value which you obtained from
      the team editor screen.

    NOTE:

    * The maximum squad size of a team is 30 players. Check the squad size
of the team you wish to add the player to on the team editor screen.
If the squad is already full you will have to remove a player before
      you can add another player.

    * This editor does not resolve problems which may result from using
this hack, such as, moving player X from club A to club B, when
club B and several other clubs have already had an offer for the
player in question accepted. In such cases the player will end up
at another club, other than club B.

    COUNTRY CODES
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Changing a player's country is performed the same way as changing their
    team.

    * Press 'T' on the main menu to go to the the team editor screen.

    * Perform a search for the country.

    * Make a note of this team's number (top righthand corner of screen).

    * Exit to the main menu (F10) and go to the player editor screen ('P').

    * Find the player who you wish to add to the team.

    * Once you have found the player, press '0' to change the player's
country. The code for the player's current country will be displayed
and you will be prompted for a new code. Enter the value which you
obtained from the team editor screen.

    REMOVING AN INJURY
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

If the editor detects that a player is injured, a message will be
displayed stating so. If you wish to restore the player to full
health, press 'Z'. You may also wish to restore the player's physical
condition to 100, so press '0' and type 100 at the prompt for the new
value. Finally, you MUST save the changes made by pressing F2.

    BUGS FIXED IN THIS VERSION
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    * Version 1.30 contained a minor bug, which has now been fixed. Nobody
has mailed me saying "I moved Batistuta to my team and he's getting
6.500.000 in wages every week. What's wrong?", so I assume it hasn't
      been noticed.

    KNOWN BUGS
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    * None yet!!

    FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    * There are no plans for a change player or team name facility. The
.SVG files are in binary format and not text like the .DB1 files.
Binary format means that the character strings for player and team
names are not of a fixed length, unlike in the .DB1 files. Such a
feature would require the entire .SVG file to be read and then be
rewritten by the editor after you had changed a single character
      string.

    * If there are any features you would like to see added to the editor
      then let me know.
